Read MoreIf you replace a toner in your Brother MFC9970CDW and the counter doesn’t correctly reset, you can use the following instructions to reset the counter.
- Turn the printer off and open the front cover.
- Then turn the printer on.
- The printer will display “Cover is open” or “Close cover”, then press the “1” key to display the Reset menu.
- Locate the correct toner option to reset and select it.
- If performed correctly the printer will display “Accepted“.
Note: for selecting the correct toner you should understand the cartridge code system Brother uses:
Black is K, Magenta is M, Cyan is C and Yellow is Y
- TNR = toner
- STR = starter cartridge (the toner cartridges that came with your printer)
- STD = standard toner or TN340
- HY or HC= high yield/high capacity toner or TN348
So to reset the TN340M magenta toner counter you would select M.TNR.STD (Magenta~Toner~Standard).
These instructions have been tested on the MFC9970CDW but may also work on the MFC9460CDN.

The Process Explorer display consists of two sub-windows. The top window always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that Process Explorer is in: if it is in handle mode you’ll see the handles that the process selected in the top window has opened; if Process Explorer is in DLL mode you’ll see the DLLs and memory-mapped files that the process has loaded. Process Explorer also has a powerful search capability that will quickly show you which processes have particular handles opened or DLLs loaded.
The unique capabilities of Process Explorer make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer.
How to use it is also described, e.g., under

A Butterfly chart is a chart where two entities are compared side by side using scales meeting at the center. Due to its shape, the chart resembles a butterfly and hence the name. These charts are sometimes also known as Funnel or Tornado Charts though I find “butterfly” to be a better description as it allows for a greater variation in shape than a funnel or a tornado does: http://www.databison.com/butterfly-chart-excel-chart-with-dual-converging-scales/.
PDF Count (also known as TTFA PDF Page Counter) is a freeware that you can use to automatically count the total number of pages in different PDF files present in a folder. Thus, if for any reason, you have to check how many total pages are available in PDF files present in your PC, you can use this simple utility.
Apart from viewing total pages of PDF files, it helps to check total pages available in each individual PDF file: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfpagecount.
